Our rich history first sprouted in 1935 in
a small village in Wayne County, Ohio, when John Barnard began selling
insurance from his home. Simultaneously, Arthur Mellick, Glenn Messner
and Gerald Tucker hung their collective shingles outside their small,
independent store fronts. Without so much as a calculator, these
insurance pioneers began selling automobile and fire insurance in
their respective communities. Through consistent hard work and a
relentless resolve to succeed, these gentlemen were able to build
organizations that supported their families while providing a vital
service to the community.
In 1968, a young insurance salesman named Don Buren
joined and in 1970, he purchased the Barnard Agency with less
than a $10,000 annual commissions and a vision of building the
organization.
Today, the second and third generations of each
of these thriving entities have strategically joined together
to ensure that the legacy their fathers entrusted to them lives
on in The Buren Insurance Group and its subsidiaries - The Barnard
Insurance Agency, Mellick Insurance and Messner Insurance.
Tim and Jeff Buren and Jim Messner have been charged
with taking this combination of agencies to the next level of
excellence. The Buren Insurance Group features nearly 20 employees.
These specialized employees provide a comprehensive overview to meet
the insurance and financial needs of each of its clients. The level
of client care combined with a highly skilled team will continue to
propel The Buren Insurance Group for even more generations to come.
